Frequently asked questions

What times should I attend?
Where possible course times are arranged to fit in with the school day - 9.30-3.15 and school holidays including half terms.

What about the children?
Half term and holidays will be taken to coincide with local school holidays. Financial support for child care for under 5’s may be available but must be applied for in advance of the course. Information on the college nurseries is available on the college web site: www.bradfordcollege.ac.uk or telephone the Let’s TWIST office on 01274 438978 or 01274 433113.

Will I get any qualifications? All the courses are accredited and on successful completion of the course you will receive a certificate in each subject.

Where will the courses lead?
As the Construction Courses are basic courses they will not give you high enough qualifications for employment in these areas. But they will give you sufficient grounding to progress on to mainstream courses offered by the Departments of Engineering and Construction, or into employment with training opportunities, eg apprenticeships.

Previous students have progressed from this course to the ABC course in Motor Vehicle, Technical Certificate in Plumbing, Construction Awards in Painting and Decorating and Carpentry and Joinery, National Certificate in Construction and to Apprenticeships with local construction companies.

The IT Diploma can lead to employment in the IT industry or progression on to courses within the Department of Computing.

What other benefits will there be to coming on the course?
It will give you an opportunity to make friends, develop skills and discuss your future training or employment aspirations. It will also give you the opportunity to see if you like these subjects and you may find you want to carry on studying one of them.

We aim to build confidence and support women who may have been out of education for some time. We will offer you the opportunity to meet other women who are studying or working in subjects which are considered non traditional for women.
